FAQs

Where can I see the artwork prior to purchasing it online?

You can view some of my work in person at the Spruce Meadows Christmas Market in November and December in Calgary, Alberta. Another option for my photography and prints is to order a sample 4”x6” print, please contact us through our contact page and we will send one out to you for a cost of $70.00.

How do I know what size to order?

Fill your wall, both in width and height, as much as you can with your art piece. Based on my experience, people often choose art that is too small for hanging over couches, tables, and beds. Whether you opt for a single art piece or a compilation of art pieces, it is recommended that they cover at least ¾ of the wall space above your couch, bed, or table.

As an Interior Designer here’s a pro tip: Many individuals underestimate the size they need. Opt for a larger size to create a greater impact. It will truly transform your space!

When people experience my 40”x60” they are often emotionally impacted. Many, many people tell me they feel like they can walk right into them. This feeling is deeply experiential and holds immense power when present in your space.

Is it possible to place an order for a custom size that is not listed on the website?

Yes, as long as the aspect ratio remains the same. We are honoured to help you find a size that will fit perfectly in your space. As a semi-retired Interior Designer, I have many years of experience with choosing the appropriate size of art. Please contact us via our contact page and let us know what size and image you’d like, and we’ll get back to you.

Can I exchange my custom-made print for a different photograph?

Each of my prints are custom produced to order. Therefore, we are unable to change your artwork once order is placed.

Can I cancel my order once it’s been placed?

As the work is created through custom orders our production begins immediately after purchase. We incur large production costs therefore our prints cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded at any time.

Where do you ship your prints from?

The shipping location of your order will depend on your location. Orders within Canada will be shipped directly from within Canada, while orders within the USA will be shipped directly from within the USA.

What is the processing time for an order?

The order processing time, which includes printing and preparing your print for shipping, typically takes four to six weeks from the date of your order.

Can you ship to a PO Box?

No.

How can I ensure the safe handling of my piece upon its arrival?

When unpacking your piece, it is crucial to handle and unwrap it with care. It is very important to avoid ripping off the foam too quickly. The aluminum print edges can flake or crack if placed on rough or uneven surfaces, such as hardwood, concrete or tiles. To ensure safe handling, we recommend placing a smooth towel or blanket on the floor and resting the edges of the piece on this soft surface, while preparing to hang it.

At what height should I hang a single piece of art?

For the best visual impact, I suggest hanging a single piece of artwork at eye level, between 57 to 60 inches from the center of the image height to the floor. With ceilings higher than eight feet, artwork can be hung a little higher than 60 inches off the floor. When hanging the artwork above furniture, a good rule of thumb is to position the bottom of the frame 6-10 inches above the furniture for an eight-foot ceiling and hang it a few inches higher for higher ceilings. By following these guidelines, you can create a personalized and visually pleasing arrangement in your space.

How do I clean my metal artwork?

Please only use a high-quality microfiber cloth to wipe any dust or fingerprints from your piece. Window cleaning sprays or any chemicals, specifically ammonia, can damage the finish. Stay away from these when cleaning your artwork.

Should my artwork match my space in colour and feeling?

When I was in university studying Interior Design, we were taught that there are two trains of thought regarding artwork matching a space.

  1. A very strong teaching was, no it does not have to match the space at all. Art stands on its own. Select what you love and hang it well.
  2. Artwork is an accessory to a room and should match in colour, style and mood.

What I have taken from this teaching is to have artwork on your walls that makes your heart sing. If you want to add some colour into your room, pick artwork that does that. As for the feeling, I’ve created spaces with a blend of styles in a room that creates interest. As people we are wired to love differences. Having everything match can quickly become boring.

What about your original paintings? Which mediums do you use?

My paintings are created with acrylic, soft pastels, mixed media and encaustic wax combined with resin.

Each painting listed for sale has a description of the medium used to produce it.

Are your acrylic paintings framed?

My acrylic paintings are not pre-framed unless you request framing through my contact form or email [email protected]. There are so many possibilities for frame colours and I prefer to work with you in selecting the frames or, I will ship them to you unframed and you can work with your local framer. The photos shown with frames are for display purposes only.

Are your encaustic paintings framed?

Encaustic paintings must be framed in order to ship them. These are framed in a simple floating frame of either dark brown, black, white or natural whichever works best with the artwork. Due to the possibility of cracking in extreme cold weather and becoming soft in very hot weather we time the shipping of these when it is appropriate and send them by air in a temperature-controlled space. This makes shipping costs higher than typical. Please contact me for a cost to ship.
